One of Fort Collins' oldest restaurants will soon see new ownership.

U.S. Navy veteran Frank Perez and his mother opened the Pobre Panchos Mexican eatery in 1967. Known for its famous Paco Macho, an enchilada-stuffed burrito, the restaurant soon became a Fort Collins favorite.

However, Perez recently decided to step away from the eatery after being diagnosed with liver cancer, which has left him unable to work.

The restaurant announced the news in a Facebook post on Thursday (August 6), revealing that Asher Haun and his family will be the new owners of Pobre Panchos.

"The news you've all been waiting for is finally here..Some new changes are coming our way with the help of Asher Haun and his wonder family Pobre Panchos will live on," said the post. "Thank you to the Haun family for everything and blessing us in more ways than one to continue on our family's legacy for many generations to come."

The Hauns will run the restaurant with the help of Perez's granddaughter, Karolyn.

The team plans to add more items, including shredded pork and kids options, to the menu. They'll also be remodeling the space, so the restaurant will be closed the week of September 21.

Here's to 50 more years of Pobre Panchos.
