‘Bar Rescue’ Makes Over Loveland Bar Including Name Change
Loveland has definitely been busy when it comes to local restaurants/bars getting makeovers from reality TV shows. Blue Sports Grille was the latest.
In October of 2021, "Restaurant Impossible" came to Loveland to help out Casa Real in the Orchards Shopping Center. 18 months later, "Bar Rescue" was across the street from Casa Real at what was formerly knows as Blue Sports Grille.
We recently covered the fact that "Bar Rescue" was in town helping out CJ's Patio Grill; they some nice things, but most notably, they let CJ's keep their name. A lot of the time, if not most of the time on "Bar Rescue" Jon Tapper has the place of business change their name. After CJ's, Jon and his squad headed over to Blue Sports Grille.
"Blue" has been around for decades, if you count when it had different owners and was known as "Miller's Crossing." Some may recall how in 2019, "Blue" had to change its official name from "Blue32" to "Blue Sports Grille;" with this latest visit by Jon and crews, they're looking at yet another name change.
Champions Colorado Sports Café. It's a sports café now? I guess Jon felt that the new name is more "inviting" or something. Maybe he thought there are just too many places with 'Grill' in their name and "café" helps the place stand out.
You can also see, on the outside, that "Bar Rescue" really does enjoy putting lettering of what the establishment offers on the windows. Cocktails. Ice Cold Beer. Live Sports. It's a lot like what they did to the outside of CJ's. Not that it's wrong, just similar.

I've been inside "Blue Sports Grille" more than a few times; It's always been an 'average' kind of place. A place like this is never going to become a Buffalo Wild Wings, but then, that's not what Loveland needs. They need a great, local joint that has good food, some drinks and a good crowd. Also, a pool table.
I can tell you that it looks like "Bar Rescue" added some new signature drinks to the lineup, based on Colorado sports:
- Blake Street Bomb
- No Fly Zone
- The Joker
- Orange Crush
- Pig Skin Classic
Let's take a look inside "Champions."
I think the first thing you're going to notice at the new Champions, are the "batting cages" for the booth seating. I think they're interesting and fun; as long as they don't block my view of the TVs.
You'll see the new poster by the door (above) listing the new signature drinks and some food menu highlights.
New paneling along the walls stands out, as well as nice, new big TVs.
A nice touch, great Colorado sports photos as a mural take up the east wall.
I think the place looks great. Can't wait to get in there and see it all up close and grab one of those Joker drinks.
