The shooting on I-25 at the Windsor exit has all of Northern Colorado concerned and for good reason.  The 20-year-old woman from Milliken, who was shot in the throat, is still recovering at a hospital in Northern Colorado. So far, there are no suspects.  With all of the other incidents happening around Northern Colorado, we want to find out Larimer County Sheriff Justin Smith's take on the situation.  The video above was an interview we had with the Sheriff this morning. (4-24-15)

Sheriff Smith put the following on his Facebook page:

At this point, there are initial descriptions of the suspect vehicle in last night's shooting possibly being a dark colored SUV type vehicle, but we are not ruling out any other types or styles of vehicles. We do not have a description of any occupants of that vehicle. Additionally, we are not seeing indications that this was a "road rage" type of incident. So far, it looks as if the victim was randomly targeted.

We can confirm that a firearm was used, but we aren't in a position to narrow down what type of firearm that is. The victim was struck in the throat and was very lucky in that she sustained no damage to arteries or veins and her airway was not compromised. We have been able to interview her earlier today. We are continuing to seek and gather physical evidence and to locate any additional witnesses. We have no suspects identified at this time.

We ask the public for their help. If you've seen anything in recent days that was suspicious or if you hear anything that might be helpful, please call our dispatch center at 970 416-1985.
