Famous Comedian Once Told Racial Joke About Colorado Ski Town
Every now and then, Colorado will be brought up on the national stage, in pop culture, which can be positive at times but also negative at others.

A video depicting exactly this has resurfaced on social media recently, where actor, comedian, and Saturday Night Live alum Kevin Nealon mentions a popular Colorado ski resort in a well-crafted, yet overtly racial, joke on the Conan O’Brien show.
When Did Kevin Nealon Tell the Joke About Colorado?
Kevin Nealon, known for his roles on Saturday Night Live, Weeds, and, among others, movies starring Adam Sandler, has made countless appearances on late-night talk shows over the years. While it’s unclear as to exactly when Nealon made the joke about the Colorado ski resort on the show, the YouTube video was published 14 years ago.
What Was Kevin Nealon’s Joke that Mentioned Colorado?
On the show, Kevin Nealon describes a time that he went on a ski trip, and after asking an employee at a local convenience store where he liked to ski, the employee told him that Copper Mountain was his favorite.
Nealon then describes the employee explaining ski runs, notably “the blacks,” which any skier can tell you refers to the difficult black diamond runs, but Nealon recounts the conversation in a way that gives the term a double meaning.
After making puns about being beaten up by “the blacks,” Nealon goes on to say that the store employee also mentioned that if you’re looking for the best “white powder,” then Copper Mountain is the best place to go.
