In fact, Colorado has been named the 9th worst state to save money by Forbes Advisor.

A major concern has to do with the housing market. Not only do Coloradans have to pay some of the steepest prices in the country for housing, but they also have to contend with some of the highest monthly household bills as well.

With all of this being said, Colorado does have a few things going for it.

For example, the state was ranked 8th by U.S. News for total household income, meaning we’ve got some higher earners in the state.

For people who are looking to get paid a nice wad of cash straight out of college, there’s two schools here in Colorado you may want to apply to.

Two Colorado Colleges Make Top 25 for Early Career Earnings

Each year, the website Payscale creates their College Salary Report that takes a look across the country to see which schools give people the most money straight out of school.

In fact, the study is quite thorough. They combed through millions of respondents from over 2,400 different schools across the United States to get their results.

As it would turn out, two colleges here in Colorado made it onto the top of the list.

Coming in at 21st is Colorado School of Mines, which is quite possibly the most elite school in the entire state. In fact, it was the only Colorado school to crack U.S. News’ Top 100 Universities, coming in at 76.

A well renowned engineering school with 92% of its students in STEM, the average early career salary for a recent graduate comes out to $89,900.

The average mid-career salary for Mines graduates comes out to a cool $168,600.

Given that the average salary in Colorado is $67,870, that’s quite impressive for people coming straight out of college.

However, just edging it out is the United States Air Force Academy out in Colorado Springs.

The average early career earnings for an Air Force Academy graduate is $90,900, while the average mid-career salary is $172,800.

What Schools Have the Highest and Lowest Average Salaries?

Topping the list is a school that may come as no surprise for many people; Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

The average MIT graduate can expect an early career salary of around $110,200, which is absolutely insane.

For the middle of their career, they can expect to be making closer to $196,900.

At the bottom of the list is Great Lakes Christian College, which is in Michigan. The average early career pay is $39,500, and the average mid-career pay is at $65,200.
