When someone says to you the words: "88th and Pecos," you only think of one thing. Or at least I do. Water World.

I've been going to Water World ever since I was a little kid and it's been a Colorado summer rite of passage annually for so, so many families across the state.

It's constantly recognized as one of the best water parks in the United States, and this year has scored an even higher mark than before by USA Today and their readers.

Water World was named #2 on the list of the 10 Best Outdoor Water Parks in the US.

And why not? It's always a blast!

With 70 acres of waves, slides and rivers for you to cool off in, it's been a highlight of Colorado summers since it opened in 1979. As you can imagine, it's changed a bit over the years and newer, faster and bigger water attractions have been built.

I remember the main wave pool as a kid - that roar when the big wave would fire up - and being just bruised and battered by the end of the day but not wanting to leave.

Now they have three wave pools, including Turtle Bay, which is a smaller, safer wave pool for toddlers.

The funny part is when I was younger, I HATED when my parents wanted to just cruise on the lazy river all day. But ya know what? Now as a parent in my 40s, trust me, I get it. Fortunately my daughters somehow enjoy the lazy river too, so it's not all go, go, go when we, uh go there.

Check them out this summer if you haven't been for a while. Opening day this year is May 24, and season passes are already on sale at waterworldcolorado.com.
