Friendly Nick's Butcher Fort Collins Giving Away Meat Packages

Running a small business in Colorado takes a lot: a lot of hours, of lot of hard work, a lot of patience. One small business in Fort Collins, a butcher, is looking out for those in his community that are going to be struggling if/when SNAP benefits end. With luck, for those in need, other local businesses will join in with the endeavor.

At the end of October 2025, millions of Americans were bracing to lose their Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits due to the government shutdown. Benefits of $186 for individuals or $350 for households (the Colorado averages) can go a very long way; not receiving those benefits, many will be doing whatever they can to put food on the table. It's a sad and frustrating situation; this Fort Collins butcher couldn't take the frustration any longer.

On October 30, 2025, Friendly Nick's Butcher, at Drake and Lemay (Scotch Pines Village Shopping Center,) began offering free meat & egg packages to those not getting SNAP benefits and those furloughed/working without pay due to the shutdown. We've all seen how the prices of meat and eggs has escalated; for Nick to give them both away, means that he is serious about wanting to help.

What is In the Free Meat & Eggs Package Being Given Out in Fort Collins?

One Pound Ground Beef.
One Pound Pork Shoulder.
One Pound Chicken Breast.
One Pound Chicken Drums or Wings.
1/2 Dozen Eggs.

Nick stated that it costed him about $15 to put each package together; that $15 worth of food can go a long way for those in need. To get the free package, people just need to show their EBT or Federal ID cards. He also began a GoFundMe campaign to help fund the endeavor; he urged people who wanted to donate to that fund, to take half of that and donate it to the Food Bank for Larimer County.
