Guy Fieri’s Chicken Guy! Restaurants Are Closing at an Alarming Rate
Famous Food Network personality Guy Fieri has been a staple to Americans for more than a decade now. His popularity is so much that he opened a large chain of once-successful chicken restaurants.
At its peak, Chicken Guy! boasted 18 locations across the country. But as of June 30, the Chicken Guy! count is down to 11, with one more closure pending.
According to WXYZ Detroit, the location in Livonia, Mich., closed suddenly on June 30, just 16 months after it opened in February 2023.
Nashville once had a Chicken Guy! location, too — but that shut its doors for good in 2023, after being open for only 2 years. It was in an extremely popular location on lower Broadway in downtown Nashville, but not popular enough to stay open.
The location in Jupiter, Fla. owes more than $40,000 in unpaid rent. That spot has been hit with with an eviction notice from the building owner, but the store is still open (facing closure in the near future).
The Gatlinburg, Tenn. location of Fieri's restaurant was abruptly shut down in 2023 after being accused of violating federal labor laws. Per ChickenGuy.com, another five locations are said to be "hatching soon."
Most locations are housed in casinos, malls and airports — it would seem stand-alone locations are the ones struggling most. Who will remain standing?
