More Construction Coming on Interstate 25 in Northern Colorado

I don't know about you, but I have been loving driving on Interstate 25 in Northern Colorado with no road construction. Traffic seems to move faster and using the major roadway seems to be dare I say it, pleasant.

As with anything road construction-related in Colorado, we can't just let it be. Soon, more construction will be taking place on Interstate 25 in Northern Colorado. A few more miles of express lanes are coming to the interstate and with any road construction project, headaches will ensue with the progress.

More Road Construction on I-25 in Northern Colorado

According to the Colorado Department of Transportation, the expansion of the I-25 express lanes will be taking place further south to Mead. The expansion of the I-25 North Express Lanes will start as early as Sunday, May 12.

CDOT is excited to kick off construction on this project on the heels of completing the 20 miles of express lanes to the north.

Said the Colorado Department of Transportation's Northeast Regional Transportation Director, Heather Paddock. Adding:

We ask that you continue to be attentive and patient when traveling through the work zone along the I-25 corridor. Safety is CDOT's number one priority, the improvements on this last stretch of 2-lane interstate will provide a safer and more efficient I-25 to Northern Colorado.

I-25 North Express Lanes Construction

The new six-mile project will start at Highway 66 in Mead and connect to the current Northern Colorado express lanes in Berthoud. The construction project will add an additional 12-foot wide lane in each direction, improve aging infrastructure, and give drivers the option of using the express lanes both north and southbound.
