A couple from Johnstown, who were both Northern Colorado teachers, were tragically killed this past weekend in a rollover crash near Loveland.

According to the Coloradoan, Fort Collins High School teacher, Genevieve Sommervold, who taught Chemistry and Biology and  at Fort Collins High School and her husband, Jared Sommervold, who is a Longmont High School science teacher, were killed in a single-vehicle crash shortly before 9:30 p.m. Friday night on I-25, just south of the highway 34.

Both of them were thrown from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene. Neither were wearing seat belts. A 2-year-old girl was not injured.

Students at both schools will be notified this morning, and counselors and a trauma response team will be available throughout the day to help students and staff cope with the loss.

Our thoughts and prayers are with friend, family and both schools.
