Here’s How You Can Get Relief From Record Gas Prices In Colorado
We've been talking about this for a while because for the past year or so, it's been affecting us all. And now, we're getting to our breaking point.
The price of unleaded gas here in Colorado is now at an all-time high. Think about that for a minute and how long we've been pumping gas in the great state of Colorado. Crazy, right?
The average price for a gallon of gasoline in Colorado is now sitting at $4.10, breaking the previous record from 2008.
AAA spokesman Skyler McKinley told 9 News, "We have never seen prices that high in absolute terms. Generally, at $3.50, folks start making changes. At $4, which we are now 10 cents north of, they start changing their behavior."
And he's right. Spring and summer road trips have been put on hold for our family because when it costs close to $60 to fill up our 13-14 gallon tank in our modest mid-size SUV. It's a big deal.
I can't imagine what others that drive bigger vehicles with larger tanks are paying. And as for diesel...it's almost laughable what folks are paying for that.
But there's nothing funny about it as the cost per gallon for diesel is now closer to $6.00/gallon than it is $5.00/gallon. The average price is about $5.62/gallon.
What a past couple of years it's been. Between the pandemic, job losses, and now that things have been clearing up with that, we have the cost of everything skyrocketing, and gas seems to be at the forefront because it really does affect us all in many ways.
Thankfully, there is some relief, not much but some, and when things are where they are now, every little bit and every penny counts.
The only places I go to get gas are the places where I get my gas rewards like King Soopers, Safeway, and Kum & Go.
