2017 was a busy year. I learned a lot when it came to DIY and woodworking. I have only been making stuff in my garage for little over a year now and the garage went from a place for our cars to sleep, to a nearly full blown woodshop.

I thought I would keep myself motivated on making new things by sharing some of the projects that I did in 2017!

The first big project I completed was the beetle kill pine farm house table! It comfortably can seat 8 people:

After completing the table, I needed to address the storage issues that I was having in the garage. I dove in deep and made the Jay Bate's miter saw station that takes up pretty much the entire back wall of the garage. I now have 30 drawers to put all my stuff in!

Summer was a bit of a busy time, so I didn't do much in the garage. As fall came around, and temps started to cool off, it was time to start planning for winter's wrath of cold air....  This is what I was currently working with:

I had to do something about the mess, so up went the drywall and wall mounted lumber racks:

Things look quite a bit different in the garage since that pic was taken, I can now fit two cars in the garage and it is all clean!!

Thanksgiving and the holidays were right around the corner and I wanted a better cutting board. I took the time to not only make one, but two...

These end grain cutting boards are made of maple, cherry and purpleheart. It was so popular on Facebook, that I actually sold one! This cutting board also marks my first sale too!

The final project for 2017 was a special one. Our neighbors who have became close friends of ours had a tragedy happen within their family. Jaime's dad passed away from cancer in August. Her mom kept his remains and I took a couple of weeks to make him a proper home, even if it is only temporary. This urn was made from cherry, with maple top, bottom and 3 splines in each of the corners.

2017 is gone now, but I have already kicked the year off right by starting another project! Around the end of November I built and installed 2 large cabinets in the garage to keep better organized. I love how much space they have given me, however, I didn't like how they looked with an uncovered face. Not to mention all of the dust that can coat everything. The first of January marks the day that I have started building cabinet doors! I have gotten the frames for two of the six doors made and I hope to have all of them completed soon.
