More speeding cameras are being installed in Northern Colorado. Loveland and Fort Collins have ramped up their speeding cameras over the past two years. You better watch your speed in Greeley because starting on May 14, the city of Greeley will start a new program that with automatically ticket drivers.

More Speeding Cameras Are Coming to Greeley, Colorado

The Greeley Police Department shared that new camera-equipped vans will begin watching for speeding infractions on May 14. The Greeley Police Department and the city of Greely are partnering to reduce speeding. Their overall goal is to improve safety in problem areas of Greeley.

When Will Greeley Start Issuing Speeding Tickets?

It is important to note that the cameras will be active on May 14. For the first 30 days, these speed cameras will issue warnings to Northern Coloradans that are going well above the speed limit. The automated cameras will start issuing real penalties beginning June 13.

GPD says that these vans will be placed where speeding problems are the biggest issue. Since these vans are mobile, we assume that the city of Greeley will move them to various locations in Greeley.

How Much Is a Speeding Ticket in Greeley’s New Program?

The penalty will depend on where the infraction takes place. Residents will be charged $80 if the infraction takes place in a school or active work zone. Anywhere else will be a $40 penalty.

Northern Colorado Cities Cracking Down With More Speed Cameras

Other Northern Colorado cities have been installing these cameras recently, too. Loveland, for example, had one of their new cameras catch 50 infractions in less than 30 minutes.
