Greeley Police Officer Involved in Incident During Arrest Attempt

A situation involving an officer in Greeley is currently under investigation.

According to a social media press release from the Greeley Police Department, a man was taken into the custody of the GPD on July 7th. The officers were in the 2000 block of Talon Parkway for some sort of investigation.

The official statement did not say what exactly law enforcement was investigating at the time of this encounter.

An officer made an attempt to assist with the arrest of the man. As the cop detained the suspect, the law enforcement officer's firearm was discharged, according to officials.

Minor Injuries Reported After Accidental Gunfire

Allegedly the weapon was "accidentally discharged." Both the officer and the individual who was being arrested sustained "minor injuries from debris."

As of right now, the incident is under active investigation.

"We take this matter very seriously, and a thorough review will be conducted to address any issues identified to avoid incidents like this in the future."
