Governor Polis Wants Elon Musk to Move Tesla HQ to Colorado
Governor Jared Polis wants Elon Musk to move Tesla's headquarters from California to Colorado.
Elon Musk is currently suing a county in California for refusing to let his company, Tesla, reopen, according to KRDO. Tesla's headquarters opened on Monday, breaking Alameda County's rules.
Elon Musk, founder and CEO of Tesla, started tweeting about moving the company's headquarters on Monday. He suggested maybe Texas or Nevada because both states aren't as restrictive with their shelter-in-place rules, according to KRDO.
Once Governor Jared Polis saw this, he told Elon Musk that Colorado would be the perfect place for Tesla's headquarters. Here's what Governor Polis tweeted:
Elon Musk then replied 'Hi Jared, Colorado is great! I think your policies make a lot of sense' on Twitter.
Elon Musk tweeted earlier that if anyone is arrested at Tesla, he asks that it's only him. He also tweeted that Tesla was the only auto company in the US that wasn't approved to resume and that Tesla was singled out.
According to KRDO, Tesla employs approximately 48,000 people and over 10,000 work at the headquarters in Fremont in Alameda County.
We think any state would be lucky to house Tesla's headquarters and we hope that if Elon Musk does decide to move, that he chooses Colorado.
