I think we can all agree that not all public bathrooms are created equal.

Tell me a feeling that's worse than making a pitstop somewhere and going to the restroom to find it an absolute mess! I know that you know that bathroom...

There's toilet paper on the ground...

There's no soap in the dispenser...

And for some reason all of the toilets are out of order...

I bet you can name a few places that are exactly like that!

Well, one national contest is celebrating the best of the best when it comes to public bathrooms and Colorado made the ranking this year.

Cintas America's Best Restroom Contest 2025 Nominees

For the past few years, the business service company Cintas, has recognized America's Best Restroom with a wild contest.

“For over two decades, this contest has honored businesses that understand the value of clean and memorable restroom experiences,” said Emily Ramos, Director of Marketing at Cintas.

“This year’s finalists showcase the perfect balance of creativity, cleanliness and customer care.”

Cintas just released the top nine finalists for this award.

How Restrooms Are Judged in the Contest

They were selected based off of five criteria:

• Cleanliness
• Visual appeal
• Innovation
• Functionality
• Unique design elements

One entire Colorado city is a top contender for this contest.

Fruita Leads the Way in Colorado

The city of Fruita, Colorado received the recognition for its self-cleaning restroom which Cintas calls "a standout example of modern public infrastructure that combines technology, sustainability and practicality."

Experts say that this public bathroom is "well-suited for high-traffic areas," and is environmentally sustainable due to LED lighting and low water consumption.

Colorado’s Restrooms Shine in the America's Best Restroom Hall of Fame

Colorado actually appears a few time in the best restroom hall of fame.

Bancroft Park in Colorado Springs won in 2020 and the Town of Minturn Public Restrooms won in 2015.

2025 America’s Best Restroom Finalists Includes Colorado

Here is the full list of the finalist for the 2025 America's Best Restroom Contest:

• Bear Head Lake State Park (Ely, Minnesota)
• City of Fruita (Fruita, Colorado)
• Footprints (Lawrence, Kansas)
• Little America Hotel (Salt Lake City, Utah)
• Moderne Bar (Orlando, Florida)
• The Rooftop at Pier 17 (New York, New York)
• Rosebrook Lodge (Bretton Woods, New Hampshire)
• Tatsu (Dallas, Texas)
• Tecolote Shores (San Diego, California)

The winner will receive Cintas UltraClean^® restroom cleaning service and $2,500 in facility services or restroom cleaning.

Last year's winner was a Maverick gas station in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Voting for this contest closed earlier this month, and the winner will be announced sometime in the fall. We'll make sure to keep you updated if Fruita ends up winning it all.
