Fort Collins has the Highest Demand in State for Sex Trafficking
Fort Collins is the number one city in Colorado for the demand for commercial sex trafficking according to Fort Collins Police officer Rob Knab.
Fort Collins police came across the issue 4 years ago while investigating hotel crimes involving drugs, robberies and stabbings. Knab tells The Denver Channel that he posed as a young girl online and received 258 text messages.
Knab refers to the problem as opening a "Pandora's box." He goes on to tell The Denver Channel why he thinks Fort Collins has the biggest problem.
"It’s our proximity to major highways, the fact that we do have a lot of wealth in parts of our community, we’re also close to oil fields in Weld County which attract that kind of activity. And now, we have this reputation among the ‘Johns’ that this is the place to come.”
Knab calls trafficking one of his "signature issues" with a goal to reverse it completely.
