Fort Collins Cinemarks May Not Require Masks When They Reopen

Movie theaters have been closed since March, and when they reopen you may not have to wear masks. Screen Crush reported that Cinemark has a goal of reopening all locations by July 10, but some could open as early as June 19.

According to the article from Screen Crush, the Cinemark theater chain confirmed to TheWrap that it will be 'encouraging, but not requiring' masks for guests, though employees will have to wear them. However, the theaters said they will also follow local mask mandates.

At the end of May, Larimer County's variance was approved so that it could start reopening businesses like movie theaters, along with bowling alleys, gyms and more ahead of the state of Colorado. And, on May 19, the local mask mandate in Larimer County was amended to give businesses an option regarding face coverings.

'Businesses will have to continue to require face coverings for customers and employees, or businesses can decide to complete the additional social distancing checklist and put stricter requirements in place,' Larimer County Public Health said. In order to not require face coverings, businesses must meet all requirements on a checklist.

In Cinemark's statement, the theaters said they will be following CDC and WHO guidelines. Hey, if seating is staggered, you won't have to worry about the person next to you taking your armrest (that's a perk).

Greeley has one Cinemark theater, while Fort Collins has two locations; the Movie Bistro and XD at the Foothills Mall and the Cinemark on Harmony Road. There is no word on when they will officially reopen and what the COVID-19 safety guidelines will be, but we'll keep you posted.
