If your weekend travel plans include a trip to Denver, you should probably start looking at alternate ways to get there.

In an effort to add an extra lane to a very congested part of I-25, CDOT will be closing down I-25 in both directions for most of this weekend.

The interstate will be closed in both directions between Santa Fe and US 6. The closures start Friday at 10 p.m. and last through Saturday at 8 a.m. The road closes again Saturday at 10 p.m. and won't reopen until Monday at 5 a.m.

CDOT recommends using I-70, I-225, C-470 and E-470 as alternates.

Well, if one very inconvenient weekend is enough to relieve congestion on such a major highway, it will be worth it in the long run...hopefully.

Were you planning on heading to Denver this weekend?  Which alternate routes will you take to avoid I-25?
