A judge has sentenced Todd Helton, former first baseman for the Colorado Rockies, to two days in jail regarding his DUI arrest last year.

According to the Denver Post, the incident occurred on March 18, 2019, when Helton's vehicle crashed into a pole in Knoxville, Tennessee.

Helton originally blamed the crash on an Ambien he had allegedly taken earlier in the day, but the officer on duty reported that a cup in his car smelled like alcohol.

Helton later pleaded guilty to a first-offense DUI, resulting in a two-day jail sentence, along with almost one year of unsupervised probation, a $250 fine, and a year-long license suspension.

This was the second DUI for the 46-year-old, who was previously arrested for the same reason in 2013.

Previously, he spent 17 seasons on the Rockies during which he batted 369 home runs. He is currently on the ballot for the Baseball Hall of Fame and garnered 29.2 percent of the vote last year.
