In order to accommodate a growing need for food amidst COVID-19, the Food Bank for Larimer County will be expanding its food distribution hours.

The food bank had previously restricted its hours back in March in response to the pandemic.

The new hours, which will begin on Monday, May 4, are as follows:

  • Fort Collins Pantry (1301 Blue Spruce Drive)
    • 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday
  • Loveland Pantry (2600 N. Lincoln Avenue)
    • 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Tuesday and Thursday

The food bank has seen a surge at both of these locations in the month of April, as locals are struggling with the financial uncertainty brought on by COVID-19.

In fact, in the period of April 21 to April 24 alone, the above locations served over 2,000 households.

Usage at the organization's mobile pantries in Fort Collins and Berthoud has also increased.

As a result, the food bank is launching a Pop-Up Mobile Pantry program, which will debut from 3-6 p.m. on Thursday, April 30 at Fossil Ridge High School.

The organization has also seen a spike in the need for food among its community partners following the cancellation of the National Association of Letter Carriers (NALC) food drive due to the virus.

In order to curb the cancellation's impact, the food bank will purchase $150,000 worth of shelf-stable food for its agency partners.
