In honor of Patriot Day, Folds of Honor is hosting its annual Patriot Day Golf Tournament on September 13.

Lt Col Dan Rooney started Folds of Honor in 2007. Since then, the non-profit has organized events like the tournament to provide the spouses and children of fallen service members with educational scholarships.

"We were fortunate last year...we were able to raise $5,000 [in] scholarships for folks here in Colorado," said Mike Fassi, veteran and Event Coordinator for the Patriot Day Golf Tournament, in our "Tuned In to NoCo" interview. "If you come out to the tournament in September, you'll have a chance to see the pictures of the [families] of the fallen veterans...that have received benefits from the organization's work."

The event will kick off at noon, with a 1 p.m. tee time, at Ptarmigan Country Club in Windsor. Along with the tournament, guests will get to enjoy the Posting of the Colors, a luncheon, prizes, hor d'oeuvres, and an awards ceremony.

Registration for the event is available online here. Sponsors and volunteers are also welcome.

"Even though the confrontations [in Iraq and Afghanistan] are not hitting the headlines, the families who paid the price are still there and they still need our support," said Fassi. "Now, we have an opportunity to say thank you."
