Why I Ended Up in the Emergency Room in Fort Collins

It's not every day that you make a surprise visit to the Emergency Room.

For the past week or so, I'd been feeling a bit off. My stomach was not agreeing with me at all; bloating, nausea, and some intense indigestion.

To be quite honest with you, I thought that if I went Gluten free, then all of my health concerns would go away.

Turns out I was kind of wrong.

Very early on Saturday morning, I started to experience some intense pains right under my chest that worked itself around my back. I've felt this type of pain maybe once or twice before.

I thought it was a terrible cramp that would go away sooner rather than later. A few nights before, I felt an almost identical pain that went away after an hour or so.

The pain started at 1:00 AM and by 5:30 AM I was off to the Emergency Room.

I knew something was wrong and that the pain was not going to go away on its own.

So, I made the quick drive to Banner Fort Collins Medical Center to see if I could get some help. After a few tests and ultrasounds, the doctors and nurses were able to tell that I had some massive gallstones.

The stones had done a decent amount of damage to the actual organ, so they had to take that sucker out of me. After they were able to determine what was wrong, the team at Banner sprung into action.

My Experience at Banner Fort Collins Medical Center

I was escorted out of the ER in a wheelchair to my hospital room to await the procedure. When I got there, more nurses came in to check on me.

Hospital staff members had set me up for emergency surgery to get this gallbladder taken out before it could cause any more issues.

Everything went off without a hitch. The surgeon and the Banner team were able to remove the stones and gallbladder without too much trouble.

Now, I'm slowly healing up and trying to get myself in shape for more hot girl walks or hikes around Horsetooth Reservoir.

The Amazing Medical Staff Who Took Care of Me

The staff, surgeons, doctors, and nurses at Banner Medical in Fort Collins provided the best care they could for me during this terrifying ordeal. I don't have family in the area and I live alone, so the Banner team took extra great care of me during my stay in the hospital.

I'm especially grateful for the nurses who helped me: Carly, Michael, and Sonja; and the surgeon who was able to yank my gallbladder out of my body, Dr. Kim.

JUST A HEADS UP! There's a good chance I got someone's name wrong because of all of the anesthesia. Sorry!!!
