First Wolf Den Discovered Since Reintroduction of the Species to Colorado
The first wolf den has been discovered since reintroducing the species in Colorado. According to Denver 7, Colorado Parks and Wildlife has confirmed the possibility of the presence of a wolf den that is believed to be on public land.
While the wolf den has been discovered, it has not been seen by biologists and there has not been a sighting of wolf pups. Wolves typically give birth in April in a den. If a female wolf reproduces and gives birth to a litter, the wolf pups would be approximately 15 pounds currently.

At around eight weeks, wolf pups will be moved by the adult wolves to what is known as a "rendezvous area". These areas resemble a den where the pups will grow up and interact with the rest of the wolf pack. These rendezvous areas typically have access to water, cover and, little to no disturbances.
Nine wolves were reintroduced to Colorado in December and two moved into the state naturally. Colorado's wolf reintroduction has been a polarizing topic for various reasons. Colorado authorities have issued nine permits that allow ranchers to haze wolves that can potentially injure, but not kill wolves when they are close to humans and livestock.
