Expect Flooding on Poudre and South Platte Rivers Through Weekend
The National Weather Service says you can expect flooding from the Poudre River in Greeley and the South Platte River near Kersey through the weekend. Flood warnings remain in effect for both rivers until further notice.
According to the Greeley Tribune, as of 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, the Poudre was running at 8.2 feet. Flood stage is 8 feet. Minor flooding was reported in Greeley on Tuesday.
As of 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, the South Platte near Kersey was running at 9.8 feet. Although it had not yet reached its flood stage of 10 feet, minor flooding is predicted to begin Thursday when the South Platte rises to 10.2 feet.
The Big Thompson will also experience higher flows this week, although flooding is not necessarily predicted.
