Eagles Country Raises $115K For Colorado Family Fighting Cancer
Jayce Vogel is your typical 5-year-old boy. Full of energy, curiosity, and silliness for days. Another thing about Jayce is that this young man is a little superhero with the strength of Superman as he has been fighting cancer since he was 6 months old.
Jayce was diagnosed with stage four metastatic neuroblastoma, and this young man has since endured painful immunotherapy and chemotherapy treatments in the first 5 years of his life while his family has been dealt with some serious medical bills in the process.
As a parent, you'll do anything for your children, and going through this kind of hardship is something that I can't even begin to understand the stress that they've been under.
This is where Eagles Country and The Colorado Eagles stepped up in the biggest of ways over the weekend with the Pot 'O' Gold Night that took place during the Colorado Eagles game on Saturday Night.
I've been a part of a lot of cool things in my life and working for the Eagles has been such a treat for me. But this particular night has and will continue to stand out for me as one of the coolest things I was ever a part of and one I am proud to have been a part of.
The night started off with Jayce and his family being on the ice to drop the puck and officially start the game on this memorable night.
The night continued with members from the sheriff's department standing with buckets at every concourse entrance with donation buckets and jersey auctions helping the cause as well.
The great thing about this night is the amount just kept growing throughout the game and let me just say this, Eagles Country not only showed up, but they also showed up in droves and with extreme generosity which, by the end of the night, ended with a total donation of $115,000.
While all of that is fantastic for me, the best part of the night was just hanging out with this incredible young man and his family and being able to be a part of this night with such amazing people.
After the game, it was all about giving Jayce and his family the opportunity of a lifetime by getting them on the ice and giving Jayce the opportunity to hang and play with some of the Eagles players.
What a night, what an event...thank you Eagles Country. What a treat it was meeting the Vogels, we wish them nothing but the best.
