Beloved Colorado Eagles Coach Moves On to NHL Opportunity
Aaron Schneekloth Leaves the Colorado Eagles
It's the end of an era for the Colorado Eagles.
Earlier this week, officials from the local AHL affiliate of the Colorado Avalanche announced that head coach Aaron Schneekloth will be leaving the organization for a new opportunity.
Nearly 20 Years of Colorado Eagles History
Schneekloth has spent nearly two decades with the Colorado Eagles organization.
From Player to Coach
Before joining the staff off the ice, the University of North Dakota alum spent seven seasons actually playing on the team. During this time, Schneekloth helped bring home the 2007 CHL Championship.
Award-Winning Career on the Ice
He was also named ECHL Defenseman of the Year in 2012 AND CHL Most Outstanding Defenseman two years in a row, according to reports.
Schneekloth's Record-Breaking Career Stats
By the time Schneekloth put away his skates in 2013, he had set franchise records for a defenseman with 356 points, 111 goals, and 245 assists.
Coaching Success with the Colorado Eagles
He's been the head coach for the Eagles for four seasons and has a 178-84-26 record.
During his entire tenure as head coach, Schneekloth has been able to lead the team to the post season in both the AHL and ECHL.
Joining the NHL’s Seattle Kraken
Now, Schneekloth will be moving to the NHL as an assistant coach!
It was just announced that the Colorado Eagles coach is joining the Seattle Kraken next season.
Lane Lambert Welcomes Schneekloth to the Kraken
Lane Lambert, the new head coach for the Seattle organization seemed excited to add Schneekloth to his coaching staff.
“In doing my research, all I heard about Aaron was ‘tremendous human being, hard working and successful, ’” Lambert said in a statement.
“Success as in having his teams be difficult to play against. That characteristic fits in right for me with the team identity. I'm excited to have him join. I know that he's extremely excited and extremely hungry. That's what we're looking for.”
Lambert definitely got a great assistant coach on his roster. Northern Colorado will miss Schneekloth next year.
