The Denver Department of Public Health and Environment (DDPHE) issued citations to 20 local businesses over the weekend for violating COVID-19 directives.

According to Fox31, the department even shut down two of the ticketed businesses, Welcome Inn and Your Mom's House, due to the violations.

Other ticketed businesses include The Retro Room, Pedal Hopper, Homegrown Tap and Dough, and Mecca Tavern, which received citations on Sunday (August 2).

AT&T, Stranahans Whiskey, Family Dollar, 7-11, Salon Ocampo, Urban Sombrero, and The Squeeze received citations on Saturday (August 1), while the department cited two Pt's Show Club locations, Qdoba, Griffin Tavern, Tetra Lounge, Zanzibar, and JD's Bar on Friday (July 31).

Many of the citations involved employees not wearing proper face coverings, while others regarded a lack of social distancing and a violation of Gov. Jared Polis' last call order.

Fox31 reports that, including this weekend, the DDPHE has now issued 50 citations and 12,529 warnings since the safer-at-home order began.

However, this weekend's citations are not exactly surprising, as Denver Mayor Hancock recently promised to increase enforcement of COVID-19 violations.
