COVID has reared its ugly head again at a couple of our local high schools.

The Coloradoan reports that Rocky Mountain High School and Fossil Ridge High had active outbreaks.

Dozens of people are required to be quarantined by the Larimer County Department of Heath and Environment. More than 30 cases have been reported in at least 18 Poudre School District schools as of Monday.

While health officials aren't currently recommending shifting to remote learning, it's definitely something to keep an eye out for soon if things don't change.

According to the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment, an outbreak is considered when there are two or more unrelated positive coronavirus cases in a short period of time. The state recommends schools shift completely to remote learning when there are five unrelated outbreaks (two cases per classroom) or a total of 10 cases within a 14-day window.

As a parent of a 5-year-old who is about to be enrolled in kindergarten in the next few weeks, to be honest with you, this is all very confusing and I'm not going to lie, a little scary especially considering my 74 year Mother will be living with us as well.  Thanks to all of the teachers, school officials and health officials for their diligent work in keeping us informed and up to date on situations to the best of their ability.

Let's all continue to do what we can to slow the spread and keep everyone safe.
