Colorado’s Peach Season Comes Early This Year

While Colorado may not be the state known for its produce, we sure do have some amazing things that come from here. Rocky Ford melons, Olathe sweet corn, and who could forget about Palisade peaches? When it comes to peaches, I could easily pass on any other variety like Georgia peaches. To me, they are just bland.

Colorado's western slopes are ripe with amazing fruits, one of those fruits is the highly coveted Palisade peaches. I make sure to go out of my way to get the best Palisade peaches every season. This year, you won't have to wait for them.

According to KDVR, Colorado's Palisade peaches have gotten an early start this year due to the scorching heat we've been getting. Early season freezes had peach growers expecting a 20 to 30 percent drop in crop yields, however, those hot temperatures soon popped up and the peaches started growing like crazy.

Palisade peach season appears to be 10 to 14 days ahead of schedule for 2024. Hopefully, this means we will have more time with the sweet western Colorado fruit that we all know and love. The next time you are at the store, be on the lookout for Palisade peaches as you could get them a few days early this season.

KDVR says that we could expect to see Palisade peaches in Colorado for the next six to eight weeks into September. I for one, am happy to hear this.
