There is no shortage of strange calls to law enforcement in Colorado. Many are for emergencies, some are valid concerns, and others are just plain odd.

Earlier this week, the Douglas County Sheriff's Office responded to a call they never thought they would get. According to the X post by the Douglas County Sheriff's Office, this call was not on the 2026 bingo card.

Kangaroo Call Turns Into Wallaby Sighting

The call came in from a concerned resident in Highlands Ranch, Colorado, about a kangaroo on the run in a neighborhood. Douglas County Sheriff's Office deputies responded to the call, only to find that there was, in fact, a marsupial on the loose in the Denver Metro Area neighborhood.

However, it was not a kangaroo, but a wallaby. Charlie the wallaby has a following on Instagram and somehow got the idea that he could venture out on his own, away from his owners. The bodycam footage shows the wallaby hopping back home as the officer tells Charlie's owners that one of the neighbors called it in and that dispatch didn't know how to categorize it.

The visit quickly turned into a memorable event for the Douglas County Sheriff's Office deputies, with one of them saying, "I'm not going to lie, this is going to be the highlight of my year..."
