Have you ever found yourself rolling through Colorado, only to encounter a town whose name you can't pronounce? Don't feel bad, it happens to all of us. Here are 36 Colorado towns with names no one can figure out.
I was born and raised in Western Colorado, and I've never heard of some of these towns. I certainly don't know how to pronounce their names. When was the last time you visited Saguache? I'm really embarrassed to say this, but the town is the county seat of Saguache County, just four counties over from ours. Oops.
How about Simla, Colorado. This statutory town, population 618, can be found 48 miles northeast of Colorado Springs. According to Wikipedia, Simla was founded in 1909 by a man named Altman. Simla was named because the daughter of a railroad official was reading a book about India when she came across the name, Simla.

As you can see from the maps provided, none of these are metropolises. It's still surprising, though, that so many remain unknown to Coloradans.
