Colorado National Guard Requested to Assist with Snowstorm
The Colorado National Guard was called in to assist with Monday’s snowstorm.
Gov. Jared Polis approved a resource request for Colorado National Guard troops along with the Colorado Division of Fire Prevention and Control, according to CBS.
The national weather service issued a Winter Storm Warning.
The Colorado National Guard is expected to deploy Small Unit Support Vehicles (SUSV), which are commonly used by the Colorado Army National Guards Snow Response Team, to help with response and rescue efforts. Light Medium Tactical Vehicles (LMTV) will also be deployed in case any incidents arise.
The National Weather Service stated that “Conditions will NOT be favorable for the busy holiday travel period leading up to, during, and after Thanksgiving, especially in the mountains.”
CDOT officials said road closures depend on conditions.
