Coloradans Share Ridiculous and Absurd HOA Rules and Laws
As a renter in Colorado, I feel fortunate that I do not have to deal with the homeowners association. Of course, I have rules at my home in Fort Collins, but I do not have to deal with a lot of annoying situations.
About half of Colorado residents have an HOA. The majority of us love to complain about our HOA. One of the most common complaints is how expensive they are. On average, an HOA monthly fee is $250 a month.
I was talking about homes with my buddy Big Rob. Rob owns a home in Northern Colorado and he was telling me about his HOA.
Grass and HOA's in Colorado
Rob was telling me that his neighbors could get in trouble for having brown spots in their yard.

I thought we were supposed to be conserving water. I understand Coloradans wanting to keep their neighborhoods nice, but fining somebody for having brown spots in their lawn seems a little extreme to me.
He also told me that his HOA has rules to ensure that grass is consistently cut short.
It seems the overall narrative about HOAs is negative. I feel like Coloradans complain about the rules more often than they are excited about the rules in place.
Most neighborhoods have different HOA rules than others. We reached out to you on Facebook to ask about ridiculous and strange HOA rules that they have experienced.
