Ranking 15th, Colorado has a total score of 57.37, with 67.60 being the best overall rating. This rating is based on factors such as family fun, health and safety, education and childcare, affordability, and socioeconomics.

Colorado did not rank in first place in any of these categories, but it did rank in the top 10 in the family fun and affordability indexes. Colorado's biggest downfall on this list was the ranking for health and safety, coming in at 40th. Socioeconomics was the second-worst ranking for Colorado at 35th place.

Best and Worst States to Raise a Family

The worst state in the nation to raise a family is our neighbor to the south, New Mexico. The best overall state in the nation to raise a family was Massachusetts, with three of the five factors being in the top three overall.
