Charley Barnes Shares His Top 10 Stories for 2014

This one has bewildered us all quite a bit. Even though I wrote this in 2013, it still keeps finding its way across the web and ended up being my #1 story again this year. The story was written on March 12, 2013 and has a total of 57,744 views.

I came across some very rare footage of Robin Williams this year on his reaction when troops turned their backs on him. The reason why is very worthy and he handled himself was awesome! The story was written on August 13 and has a total of 47,888 views.

Remember the whole fiasco when Colorado voted in new laws for gun control? Many were being threatened with being arrested if guns weren't turned in but thousands of law enforcement officers said they would never uphold that law, our own Justin Smith being one of them, on the grounds it was unconstitutional. The story was written on April 1 and has a total of 12,201 views.

We love our college football around here. Even though CSU was the talk of the town, the story I did just last week on how bad CU is when it comes to money spent per win, went straight into the Top 5. The story was written on December 23 and has a total of 8,790 views.

As a Father, this really touched me, especially since my first born was a daughter. This is one of the coolest things I have ever seen. A must see video. The story was written on April 16 and has a total of 5,854 views.

This one was a mind-blower personally. To ride 10,000 miles in 10 days on a motorcycle is not easy to do. $35,000 was raised ($10,000 was the goal) for Honor Flight Northern Colorado. Will I ever do it again? The story was written on June 2 and has a total of 5,148 views.

One thing I can't stand is someone pretending to be someone they're not; especially when it comes to the military. Laws have changed that now makes it illegal ONLY if they profit from it. In my mind, it should be illegal period. The story was written on July 23 and has a total of 4,108 views.

This piece is a follow up to the one I wrote on April 1 about gun control laws. Sheriff Justin Smith was grateful at my original story, but wanted to clarify a few issues and this story was his side. This story was written on April 4, 2013 and has a total of 3,949 views.

Who wants to re-hash this one?  I know it's a tough pill to swallow, the Super Bowl and all, but the story about Greeley sending special water to the Broncos as they prepared to do battle with the Seattle Seahawks, garnered more than a few views. Those of us in Greeley still believe the glory years of the Broncos could have very well been in the water. The story was written on January 27 and has a total of 4,020 views.

This one made more than a few mad. Lord knows I am not one who's afraid to stir the pot when it needs stirred. I am all for Freedom of Speech and Freedom of Religion but it needs to go both ways. What's good for the goose is good for the Gander. The story was written on September 3 and has a total of 2,980 views.
