The Cameron Peak Fire is now one of Colorado's worst wildfires ever.
The flames grew about 30,000 acres from Monday (Sept. 7) morning to the evening. The latest official estimate puts the flames at 89,312 acres.
That means the fire is burning over more ground than the 2012 High Park Fire that also burned near Fort Collins.

- 2020 Pine Gulch Fire 139,007
- 2002 Hayman Fire 137,760
- 2013 West Fork Complex Fire 108,045
- 2020 Cameron Peak Fire 89,312 Acres
- 2012 High Park Fire 87,250
The Cameron Peak Fire has grown significantly over the Labor Day weekend — the fire was at 23,903 acres on Friday morning. Mandatory evacuations of certain areas have been put in place.
Predicted snow on Tuesday will be welcomed by the more than 800 workers fighting the flames.
