Businesses We Miss in Northern Colorado

Plenty of stores and restaurants have closed down rapidly in the past couple of years. There is one business that you might think I am crazy for wanting to bring back to Northern Colorado. It is the type of business that if I ever won the lottery I would certainly open up a location.

A Wild Idea: Bring Back Blockbuster?

Do you remember Blockbuster?

I think we need a Blockbuster location in Northern Colorado. It would be a huge hit in Fort Collins. The last time a Blockbuster was open in Northern Colorado was their Fort Collins location which closed in 2013.

Once upon a time, Blockbuster had seven Northern Colorado Blockbuster stores. Five of those locations were in Fort Collins. The other two were in Greeley.

Why Blockbuster Could Work in 2025

Has enough time passed that it is time for a Blockbuster to return to Colorado? I think so. Blockbuster is an extremely nostalgic place.

While writing this I can smell the plastic from the cases, I can see the iconic blue carpet, and I can taste the popcorn that was served.

I remember being so excited to make a trip on Friday nights and pick a movie for the night. If you are 25 and above, you understand that Blockbuster is a nostalgia powerhouse. You might be like my household and have streaming fatigue.

We all spend a lot of time scrolling through streaming apps trying to find something to watch. The experience of searching in person would be a fun solution to digital fatigue.

Would a Blockbuster Work in Fort Collins Today?

I also believe that it would be an incredible tourist attraction. There is only one Blockbuster left on earth. That Blockbuster is located in Bend, Oregon. I have a buddy that used to live there. When I visited, he asked me what I wanted to do.

The first thing I wanted to do was go to Blockbuster and relive my childhood for nostalgia's sake.
