At the time of writing, it is early November. Bears are making preparations for hibernation, and one woman in Boulder had the fright of her life.
Boulder Woman Encounters a Black Bear — Twice in One Night
According to Denver 7, a Boulder resident named Marni Pogachefsky had to call authorities because a bear broke into her home two times in one night.

Bear Breaks Into Home and Returns for Seconds
Pogachefsky said that a black bear had been going through her car, but it all came to a head when she woke up to a black bear in her kitchen. Local law enforcement came to her home and scared the bear. The bear went away, but returned a few hours later for seconds.
How the Boulder Resident Scared Off the Bear
According to Denver 7, the black bear went to the kitchen both times, and Pogachefsky and her roommate were thankfully unharmed. According to Denver 7, Pogachefsky scared the bear away by screaming and banging on the walls. Her swift action scared the bear away, and she was safe.

What to Do If You See a Black Bear
According to the National Park Service, Pogachefsky did the perfect thing. NPS says that you should never play dead when you see a black bear. If a black bear approaches you, try to escape and, if needed, fight back and make yourself seem big.
