Missing Missouri Girl Was Found Right Here in Fort Collins

A Midwestern missing person's case was solved right here in Northern Colorado.

Every single year, approximately 460,000 children are reported missing in the United States, according to data from the International Centre for Missing and Exploited Children and the FBI.

Fortunately, one of those thousands of adolescent cases has been solved.

Missouri Teen Reported Missing in 2024

In December of last year, a Missouri teenage girl went missing, according to reports.

Family and friends searched tirelessly for the adolescent for months. They had no idea that she would be kidnapped and moved approximately a thousand miles to Colorado.

Missing Girl Tracked to Northern Colorado by Fort Collins Police

On April 18th, 2025 officials from the Fort Collins Police Cyber Crimes Unit received a tip from their Missouri counterparts. They were alerted to the possibility of the missing girl being held against her will in Northern Colorado, according to a report from CBS.

Fort Collins law enforcement figured out there was a good chance that she and the kidnapper were located at the 800 block of Warren Landing. 

They acquired a search warrant to execute the next stage of this investigation.

Sex Offender Arrested in Fort Collins, CO After Search of Home

In a press release from the city of Fort Collins, officials went to the residence of Maximilian Bondrescu

Bondrescu denied any sort of claim that there was a teenage girl in his home. Upon further investigation, authorities were able to locate the specific teen they had been searching for.

The 45-year-old was booked and taken to Larimer County Jail following his arrest.

Bondrescu is facing multiple charges including:

  • 2nd Degree Kidnapping – Child (Class 2 Felony)
  • Sexual Assault on a Child – Pattern of Abuse (Class 3 Felony)
  • 2nd Degree Assault (Class 4 Felony)
  • False Imprisonment – Minor Locked in Room (Class 5 Felony)
  • Failure to Register as a Sex Offender – Incomplete Registration (Class 1 Misdemeanor)
  • Child Abuse (Class 2 Misdemeanor)
  • Harboring a Minor (Class 2 Misdemeanor)
  • Obstructing a Peace Officer (Class 2 Misdemeanor)
Identity of Colorado Victim Protected Under Law

No information has been released on the identity of the kidnapped teen due to the sexual assault charges and her being a juvenile.

There are statutory protections in place, and officials confirm that no more information about her will be released going forward.

Police: Girl Was Taken From Missouri to Fort Collins by Car

Over the course of the investigation, officials learned that Bondrescu rented a vehicle and drove out to Missouri to meet this specific teen in December of 2024. He then drove her back with him.

Victim Was Forced to Work for Fort Collins Snow Removal Company

This teen confirmed that she was held against her will here in Colorado. Authorities say that her kidnapper would take her off of the Fort Collins property to work for his snow removal company.

While she was out working, she would be forced to wear a mask to conceal her identity, according to city officials.

Fort Collins Customers of FoCo Sno Go Asked to Contact Police

Bondrescu worked for FoCo Sno Go and law enforcement are asking for any customers of the company to contact the investigator on the case.
