April 6th is ‘The Day the Music Died’ in Country Music’s History [VIDEO]
Don McLean sang "American Pie" about 'The Day the Music Died' in rock and roll. That day, February 3rd of 1959, was the day of the tragic plane crash that claimed the lives of The Big Bopper, Ritchie Valens and Buddy Holly. It was a day that, sadly, lives in history. Today is the day the music died in the lives of many country music fans.
This date, April 6th, marked the end of the legendary careers or lives of three of our formats biggest superstars of all time. In 1998, the amazing Tammy Wynette passed away at the young of age of 55. It was on this date in 2013 that George Jones would give, what would end up being, his last concert before he died. Just one year ago, ironically on his 79th birthday, Merle Haggard's voice was silenced. Those are some incredible people. Here is a tribute to those legends whose work will live on with us forever and ever.
