Speculation has been running rampant on what the new name of the CSU football stadium was going to be. And now, we have our answer.

According to the Coloradoan, CSU has decided to keep the name of Sonny Lubick on the new stadium when it is finished for the 2017 season.

An anonymous donor put forth $20 million to secure the naming rights which will keep Lubick's name on the stadium for many years to come. The official name will be "Sonny Lubick Field".

The first game in the brand new CSU stadium will be on September 9th, 2017.

Lubick was the coach of the CSU Rams from 1993 - 2007, which were the years that the football team gained prominence across the country. The team won six conference titles and went to nine bowl games in the 15 years that Lubick was at the helm.

Lubick's overall record with CSU was 108-74.

The projected cost for the new stadium will be around $220 million and it is being built on the southwest side of the campus.
