American Flag Exchange Event Happening In Northern Colorado
If you have had your American flag proudly flying for some time now, there is a possibility that it may have sustained damage. The flag could be ripped, frayed, or stained from being out in the elements.
Those who have pride in our country will not just simply throw away an American flag. While it is not illegal to do so, it is considered very disrespectful. According to the U.S. Department of Defense, there is a proper way to dispose of an American flag with the dignity that it deserves.
The American Legion passed a resolution in 1937 and is considered a ritual to this day nearly a century later. The approved method for disposing of an unserviceable flag is to fold it properly and destroy it by fire.
