Trooper Lewis reported that the man was driving south on 63rd Street on Monday when his car veered into a cement barrier. State patrol officials do not think drugs, alcohol or speeding played a part in the crash, as per the Denver Post.

The man, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was ejected from the vehicle, and was found unconscious, Trooper Lewis said.

The intersection where the incident took place re-opened at 4:36 p.m. on Monday, Lewis added.

Colorado State Patrol is currently investigating the cause of the fatal crash.

According to teendriversource.org, 36,096 people died in motor vehicle traffic crashes on US roadways, with nearly half (47%) not wearing a seat belt in 2019. In addition, people not wearing a seat belt are 30 times more likely to be ejected from a vehicle during a crash.
