We have all fantasized about what we would do if we won the lottery. I know I would set up a foundation to help people in need and would help fund our local schools with the best arts and music programs in the country. My wife and her coworkers have even caught the fever and are buying tickets as a group. We all want to win that money but we all also know that the chances of winning that money are very remote, in fact they are one in 176 million. Let's put that into perspective.

You are 25 times more likely to win an Academy Award. You are 3 times more likely to be killed by a falling coconut. You are 15 times more likely to be bitten by a shark and more likely to be killed by flesh-eating bacteria than winning the Powerball. You are even 7 times more likely to have Todd, Susan and I come crashing through your bay window in a Hummer and making BLB (bacon lettuce and bacon) sandwiches while watching reruns of The Golden Girls on your couch than winning the drawing.

When it comes to picking the winning numbers, a Dr. Kim from Southern University did a study and found the most commonly drawn Powerball numbers. He found that 20 is the most frequently drawn Powerball number followed by 37,2,31 and 35. The most popular white ball is 42 followed by 16,35,26 and 19.
