Happy holidays, everyone! And no, I don’t mean Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, or any of those other celebratory days. No, I’m talking about the one holiday we both deserve and need this time of year, unacknowledged though it may be. Continuing in my trend of writing about food, did you know that it’s going to be National Bacon Day in three short days? Yeah, me neither, but now that I know I’m going to go… ham with it.

Yes, I simultaneously regret nothing and everything.

But I DON’T regret my love of that salty, delicious food that is truly the prince, nay, the king of all breakfasts, so here’s some of the best places you can get bacon in this fine city of Windsor, CO.

As many of you may know, the Hearth Restaurant and Pub is a gastro-pub just off of Main Street. Housed in a recently-renovated but still industrially charming building from 1902, the Hearth offers a wide range of beers on tap, wines, and cocktails. What was I writing this post about again? Oh, right, and they have bacon, too. At the hearth you can get apps flavored with the smoky tang of bacon, laden your pizza with bacon, top your burgers with bacon, and even get a “hipster” burger topped with bacon jam. I genuinely don’t know how that works, but now I definitely want to give it a try.

Of course, I had to include a classic breakfast place. And The Egg and I truly is a classic, incorporating bacon into many of their dishes. From omelets to sandwiches (are you hungry yet? Because I’m hungry), they’ve got your back when it comes to bacon. Personally, I’m a fan of their skillets; if you want a solid meal that’s good for napping once you’re done, I’d recommend the Cambridge Skillet. It sounds English and smart, so you really can’t go wrong. And I must say, British food can’t be all bad if this is what they’re eating in the mornings.

Although The Crooked Cup is primarily a coffee vendor (and is that really such a bad thing?) they also serve delicious, on-the-go bacon pastries for when you want a quick burst of happiness on your way to work. Not only can you get your bacon in sandwiches and burritos, you can also get it in these delicious pastries called kolache, which are basically delicious pillow-buns of happiness.

So get out there and bring home the bacon.
