Willie Nelson wowed the sold-out crowd at the Union Colony Civic Center in Greeley last night.  Willie has been described as an icon, a living legend, a creative genius! He lived up to all of those titles last night.  He may have lost a step or two over the years, but he still has it.

Willie did not disappoint.  Often times when you see an artist in concert they will concentrate on their new music and will forget to perform the songs that made you love them. That was not the case last night.  Mr. Nelson played classics like "Whiskey River", "Good Hearted Woman",  "Mammas Don't Let Your Babies Grow Up To Be Cowboys", "On The Road Again", and "Always On My Mind".  He also threw in some new stuff too.  One of the highlights of the evening was a medlyfied version of "Crazy" with "Funny How Time Slips Away" and a song I didn't recognize.  He melted the 3 songs together in a way that only Willie can do, half-talking half-singing each of the songs.

Willie Nelson is still an impressive singer at age 78, even more impressive as a song writer, but maybe most impressive as a guitarist.  Willie doesn't travel with a guitar player.  He does it himself...and he does it beautifully.  The biggest ovations last night came from his guitar riffs.  If he wasn't a country music superstar, Willie could always moonlight as a blues guitarist.

A big thank you to the Union Colony Civic Center for continually bringing us quality entertainment.  Amy Grant & Michael W. Smith are coming October 1st!  Kenny Rogers will be at UCCC on Saturday, October 8th. Michael Martin Murphy will return with his Cowboy Christmas Ball on November 25th.  There will be musicals like "Young Frankenstein" on November 29th and "Mamma Mia" on February 12th.  Randy Travis is coming February 18th, but that is just the tip of the iceburg.  Click here to see the complete lineup!
