I will never forget the feeling of this day, which was the most difficult day of my broadcasting career. We were just sitting in this studio 14 years ago today, doing what we always do, playing music and laughing when our lives changed forever.

At 6:46 a.m., the first plane hit the towers. We had no idea what to think. I certainly wasn't thinking we were being attacked. Less than 20 minutes later, plane number two hit and we knew things would never be the same. We remember those who lost their lives today and the heroism of the rescue workers. I remember how, in the worst of situations, we were united as a nation. What they tried to do failed and had the opposite effect on us. We were unified and felt like one nation again. We joined hands and put down our differences and all became, simply, Americans. We weren't of any class, party, race or religion...we were Americans.

Just for a day, let's get that feeling again. We all may get disgusted by politics but our patriotism and love of our country is as strong as ever. Let's put our differences aside and join hands and unite today. We are one and as one there are none stronger than the American men and women. We will never forget, we will never forgive and we will never back down...We are the United States of America!

Here are a few words I had to say on the topic this morning. Please give a listen.
