With a combination of regional slang and down right obvious. A website has revealed one "official" word for each state. What do you think Colorado's "word" is? To be honest, I never heard of this word until I moved to Colorado, so I guess that would be one qualification that would make it officially "Colorado." According to Slate, Colorado's "one word" is "fourteener."

A fourteener, for those who are not familiar, is a mountain that is located in Colorado that is more than 14,000 feet above sea level. I discovered once I moved to Colorado many years ago, that people use it as a badge of honor, that they have climbed several fourteeners.

Some words of other states include:

California: Hella, meaning very or extremely.

Hawaii: Aloha, a greeting and farewell.

Illinois: Grabowski, a hard working blue-collar person.

Indiana: Hoosier, someone who lives in the state.

Maryland: Hon, Sort for honey,

Oregon: Jojos, are potato wedges

Pennsylvania: Yinz, is short for all you, or you guys.
