Weld County Sheriff’s Mounted Posse Heads to Washington D.C.
The Weld County Sheriff’s Mounted Posse is leaving today for a trip to Washington D.C. for National Peace Officers Memorial Week. The Posse will have 16 members traveling, with their horses. The Sheriff’s Posse will participate in the Candle Light Vigil on Monday at the Fallen Officer Memorial and the Peace Officers Memorial Service on Wednesday at the U. S. Capitol.
Weld County knows only too directly the pain and suffering an agency and community experience with the loss of a peace officer, a peer and a friend with the death of Deputy Sam Brownlee in November of 2010.
According to an article in the Greeley Tribune, the Posse was to leave at 7 a.m. today. The send-off for the Sheriff’s Posse will happen at the training arena, 1104 H St. The public is invited to attend the send off.They are accepting donations to help pay for the trip.
